Doornenburg

Doornenburg is a village in the Dutch municipality Lingewaard in the province of Gelderland, south of Huissen. Doornenburg has 2709 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2009).

The village is geographically located at the point at which the Rhine flows to two -thirds of the Waal and one third in the breakdown Rdens channel.

In addition to this strategic location Doornenburg is best known for its castle Doornenburg ( Dutch: Kasteel Doornenburg ). Here, the Dutch TV series Floris was recorded. Guarded by former squatters earlier fortification Fort Pannerden is another destination.
