Dopaminergic

Dopaminergic means something like " to dopamine responsive " or " dopamine as a neurotransmitter -containing". This refers mostly dopamine- sensitive receptors in the brain or behavioral controlling areas of the brain where dopamine acts as a neurotransmitter (such as the so-called reward center ).

Dopaminergic neurons are among others in the black substance ( substantia nigra) and the raphe nuclei of the midbrain. The former are particularly affected in Parkinson 's disease.
