Dora del Hoyo

Dora del Hoyo ( born January 11, 1914 in Boca de Huérgano, Leon, Spain, † January 10, 2004 in Rome) was the first Auxiliarnumerarierin of Opus Dei.

Dora del Hoyo worked from 1939 in Madrid as a domestic helper in different families. She learned Josemaria Escriva and his lay community know 1944 when she worked as employees in business administration in Opus Dei student residence of La Moncloa. In March 1946, she appeared in Bilbao from an Opus Dei - the first woman who had the desire to mainly take care of the household activities of Opus Dei houses. At the request of Josemaria Escriva she lived from December 1946 in Rome at the central headquarters of the Institute. They focused particularly on the home economics education of women who joined as Auxiliarnumerarierinnen Opus Dei. Dora del Hoyo addition worked for Opus Dei in France, Ireland and England. She was buried in the crypt of Santa Maria della Pace Prelatic in Rome, which is also the grave church of Saint Josemaria Escriva.

On June 18, opened in 2012, Javier Echevarría, Prelate of Opus Dei, in Rome the cause of beatification of Dora del Hoyo at the level of the personal prelature.
