Dorfbeuern is a municipality with 1470 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the north of the province of Salzburg in Salzburg-Umgebung. Widely known and important is the Benedictine monastery located in the village of Michaelbeuern.

Geography

The municipality is located in the northeast of the district of Salzburg-Umgebung ( Flachgau ) 24 km kilometers north of the city of Salzburg, on the border with Upper Austria and is part of the judicial district of Oberdorf.

The municipal area is 14.5 km ² and is identical to the single cadastral same name. Is divided Dorfbeuern in the villages (in brackets population as of 31 October 2011):

History

The municipality was formed on January 1 Dorfbeuern 1850. The municipality is divided into the three places Michaelbeuern, Dorfbeuern and Vorau and several hamlets. The economic and cultural center of the municipality is the Benedictine Michaelbeuern, which was founded around the year 730 AD.

The coat of arms of the municipality is: " Red against blue split, in each hand a einwärtsgekehrter silver wings, the right covered with a red, the left with a blue ball and between the two wings at the gap a silver bullet. "
