Dorgon

Dorgon ( Manchu: , Chinese多尔衮/多尔衮, Pinyin Duō'ěrgǔn; * November 17, 1612, † December 31, 1650 ) was a Manchu prince and uncle of the first Qing emperor Fu Lin, as he whose Regent acted. In addition to Nurhaci, whose son he was 14, he is considered the founder of the Qing Dynasty. He had won with his army in 1644 Beijing.

One of Dorgon 1645 enacted law commanded under pain of death, that every Chinese person would have to wear a ponytail. This Chinese braid was the end of the imperial period, the typical hairstyle of men in China.

After the death of his brother Hong Taiji to the Empress Dowager Xiao Zhuangwen, the mother of his nephew Fu Lin married and was also referred to with the title of imperial consort. After his death he was first honored as an emperor, but was shortly afterwards deprived of all honor to be rehabilitated under the fourth Qing Emperor Qianlong.
