Dorian Rudnytsky

Dorian Rudnytsky (* 1944 in New York City ) is an American cellist and composer.

Life and work

His parents came from the Ukraine. His father was the composer and conductor Antin Rudnytsky, his mother, the soprano Maria Sokil. He studied at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City and made his artistic statements with Maurice Eisenberg, the friend and pupil of Pablo Casals.

During the late 1960s and 1970s he was to experience the one with solo concerts as a classical cellist on many stages of the USA, on the other hand, he founded during this time with Michael Kamen and Marty Fultermann (now Mark Snow ) The New York Rock & Roll Ensemble. All three studied together at the Juilliard School of Music. The band had with their crossover sound between classical and rock music great success and released six LPs with well-known record labels such as Atlantic Records.

The ensemble has toured nationally and internationally, was represented at numerous festivals and major concert halls of the U.S. with solo concerts, but also played as a guest of the New York Philharmonic under Leonard Bernstein at Carnegie Hall in New York City, the great symphony orchestras of Cleveland and Detroit, occurred in all major television shows and starred in the film with Zachariah.

In the following years Rudnytsky lived in Los Angeles and worked as a cellist and bassist for film and television. Since 1995 he lives in wins and on the Costa Blanca in Spain. He composes mainly for theater productions, but also works as a solo cellist.

On April 19, 2000, his Concerto for Solo Cello, Rock Band and Symphony Orchestra, Costa Blanca Suite was premiered on the Costa Blanca. In Germany, consisting of the three sets Portrait of Altea, Penon d' Ifach and Moros y Christianos was listed existing concert in the spring of 2005 with the South Westphalian Philharmonic.
