Doris Pack

Doris Pack nee Schmitt ( born March 18, 1942 in Schiffweiler ) is a German politician (CDU) and Member of the European Parliament. She is president of the competent also for Youth, Media and Sport Committee on Culture and Education in the European Parliament and member of the Southeast Europe delegation, which she headed until 2009. She conducts Since March 2014, the Conference of Committee Chairs, which works with the Bureau of the European Parliament. Vita

After her state exam in Education 1965 Pack worked until 1974 as a primary and secondary school teacher. 1967 to 1974 she worked for the CDU member of the council of Bübingen, then to 1976, the city council of Saarbrücken. From 1974 to 1983 and again from 1985 to 1989 she was a member of the Bundestag from 1981 to 1983 and from 1985 to 1989 also a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the Western European Union. From 1983 to 1985 she worked as a principal in the Saarland Ministry of Culture.

In the European elections in 1989 Doris Pack was first elected to the European Parliament, where they the Group of the European People's Party ( EPP) joined to the part of the CDU. She is now a member of the Delegation for relations with the countries of South Eastern Europe ( former Yugoslavia delegation ). 1992-2009 Pack was Coordinator of the EPP Group in the Committee on Culture and Education before she became Chairman.

Her work focuses on are education, culture and youth policy and relations with the countries of the Western Balkans. For Bosnia - Herzegovina pack is standing rapporteur of the European Parliament. For the Erasmus program she was rapporteur and chief negotiator of the European Parliament.

Doris Pack is chairman of the Advisory Board of the initiative A Soul for Europe, Chairman of the Foundation for German - French cultural cooperation and the European Children 's & Youth Book Fair. Pack is also President of the National Education Association Saar, a former member of the ZDF Television Council, deputy chairman of the European Academy Otzenhausen and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Business School VERN in Zagreb.
