Dorlar is a district of the town of Schmallenberg in North Rhine -Westphalia.

Geography

Location

Dorlar is located approximately eight kilometers northwest of Schmallenberg. Through the village leads the federal road 511 and flows through the Leiße.

Adjacent locations are Frielinghausen, Nierentrop, Kirchilpe, Twismecke, Sellinghausen, Mailar, Grimminghausen, Menkhausen and Berghof.

History

Dorlar Pentecost 1273 was first mentioned in a deed Grafschafter. Borchardus of Durelare was then witnessed a donation of Conrad of Nierentrop. The place is older, however, in 1150 there was already a chapel in Dorlar. In the same year, the now-defunct royal court was built. The name meaning of Dorlar is debatable. Dorlar means either Duke camp, battle castle, desolate corridor or grass plot on the hillside (Celtic ).

1350 lived in Dorlar 30 people. The population doubled up in 1468. The village chapel was enlarged in 1358 for the first time. 229 years later Dorlar received a parish. The parish was moved in 1587 from Kirchilpe (then Yffelpe ) to Dorlar. 1645 Dorler was charted on the map Westphalia Ducatus. The road (now B 511) between Fredeburg and Bremke was completed in 1839. The Dorlarer station on the railway line to Schmallenberg was opened in 1911. The setting of the railway operation in 1991, said, among other things was resumed for the transport of pipes for a gas line temporarily. The dismantling of the tracks in was conducted in 2004. Today is on the track bed, a cycle path.

As part of the municipal restructuring, which entered into force on 1 January 1975, was the annexation of the community Dorlar with the places Dorlar, Kirchilpe, Nierentrop, Altenilpe, Sellinghausen, Berghof, Grimminghausen, Cow Mountain and Twismecke to the new town of Schmallenberg.

Religion

In the village are built by Joseph Buchkremer Catholic Church of St. Hubertus and the Protestant Church of St. Petri ( foundation stone was laid in 1947 ) which is the only Protestant church in Westphalia in private ownership.

Economy

The largest employer in the city is the Martin eV Dorlar (Association for inner mission). There is also a stocking factory, a construction company, a plasterer with an emphasis on clay building, a car dealership, a concrete plant, a hairdressing salon, a bank, post office, adoption agency, child and adolescent psychotherapists, two surgeries, several farms, a bakery and butcher shop.

Education

The village has a primary school and a special school ( Martin School of Hochsauerlandkreises ) and a kindergarten.

Traffic

Dorlar is located on the main road 511 From 1911 to 1994, the city was also served by the railway. The station had a loading track and two platforms. The last rule passenger sailed the route Wenholthausen - Altenhundem on 28 May 1964. The last freight train on 29 December 1994. The railway line is now completely dismantled, on the embankment of Sauerlandradring opened in 2007.
