Dornburg - Camburg is a small town in the Thuringian Saale- Holzland which resulted from the merger of the towns and Camburg Dornburg / Saale and the community Dorndorf - Steudnitz on 1 December 2008.

Geography

The city is located in the northwestern part of the Saale- wood country - circle in the middle valley of the Saale River between the cities of Jena and Naumburg ( Saale). In addition to the federal highway 88 that runs through all three places, there is a train and bus line that connects Camburg, thorn castle and Dorndorf - Steudnitz. The built at the railway station hall Dornburg / Saale binds the city on to the Thuringian railway network. A special feature of this merger is already, as the new city consists of two unconnected areas. While Dornburg and Dorndorf - Steudnitz related, Camburg has so far no common border corridor with the two foregoing.

History

On 30 January 2008, the mayor of Thorn Castle, Dorndorf - Steudnitz and Camburg signed the territory amendment agreement, which provides for the incorporation of thorn castle and Dorndorf - Steudnitz in the city Camburg, which changes its name to Dornburg - Camburg. The merger became effective on 1 December 2008.

Dornburg

Dornburg since December 1, 2008 part of the city Dornburg - Camburg; previously belonged to the place of the administrative community Dornburg - Camburg. Dornburg is primarily known through the three Dornburger locks. The Protestant Church of St. Jacobi emerged in its present form in the 18th century. The new district thorn castle exhibits from 897 inhabitants, with the former city without its districts Wilsdorf and Hirschroda has less than 700 inhabitants. Camburg

Camburg is like Dornburg a former town in the north of the same circle; before the contractual merger also included them in the management of Community Dornburg - Camburg. Camburg is located on the main road 88 between Dornburg / Dorndorf - Steudnitz and Naumburg. The district Camburg 2846 inhabitants are attributable. Part of the city office is located at Camburg in the Town Hall Street 1

Dorndorf

With the community Dorndorf - Steudnitz the district has also connected the aforementioned contract. With Steudnitz and Naschhausen the municipality had 1,932 inhabitants ( 31 December 2007).

Dornburg - Camburg is located on the railway line Großheringen -Saalfeld to the stations Dornburg (Saale ) and Camburg (Saale ). The latter station was the end point of the now disused railway line Zeitz - Camburg.
