Dornbusch Lighthouse
With Dornbusch lighthouse, the lighthouse with the official designation beacon Dornbusch / Hiddensee in the north of the island Hiddensee is referred to in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern on the Baltic Sea with the international order number C 2588.
The lighthouse stands on the 72.5 meter high Schluckswiek the so-called highlands of the island.
Visit
The lighthouse can be climbed since 1994 over 102 steps. Thus, it is not up there too tight, but is only 15 visitors allowed a visit at the same time. To visit a minimum of six years applies. From wind force 6 on the tower will be closed for safety reasons.
Technical
The lighthouse was built in the years 1887/1888 as a brick. The start was on November 19, 1888. It was rebuilt in 1927 and 1929 and provided with a reinforced concrete jacket. It is 27.5 m high and has a height of fire of 94.7 m above mean water of the Baltic Sea. The viewing gallery is located at 20 meters height. Its beacon has the following visibility: white 24.9 nautical miles ( 45 km ) and red 21.3 nautical miles ( 38 km ). The identifier is bright 0.8 seconds, 9.2 seconds dark. The lighting apparatus radiates as a light source, a metal halide lamp. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the tower is since 1990 the Water and Shipping Authority Stralsund.
Stamps
The first stamp showing the Dornbusch lighthouse, was published on 13 May 1975 by Deutsche Post of the GDR. The brand is part of the series lighthouses, guiding light and pier light. The design is by Jochen Bertholdt.
On 2 July 2009, the German post office issued a special postage stamp with the image of the lighthouse Dornbusch worth 55 euro cents out in the series lighthouses. The design of the stamps comes from Prof. Johannes Graf, Dortmund.
