Dorothea of Saxe-Lauenburg

Dorothea of Saxe- Lauenburg ( born July 9, 1511 Lauenburg; † October 7, 1571 in Sønderborg) was a princess of Saxe- Lauenburg and by marriage Queen of Denmark and Norway.

Life

Dorothea was the eldest daughter of Duke Magnus I of Saxe- Lauenburg (1470-1543) from his marriage to Catherine (1488-1563), daughter of Duke Henry I of Brunswick- Wolfenbüttel.

She married 14 -year-old on October 29, 1525 in Lauenburg the later to become King Christian III. of Denmark and Norway ( 1503-1559 ). Your dowry of 15,000 florins was considered extremely low.
