Dorothy Yost

Dorothy Yost ( born April 25, 1899 in St. Louis, Missouri, † June 10, 1967 in Monrovia, California ) was an American screenwriter.

Life

Dorothy Yost began in 1920 as a writer in film in Hollywood to work. At first she was mainly working for the Fox Film Corporation, where she was primarily involved in silent films with the actress Shirley Mason. For Cinderella of the Hills with Barbara La Marr Yost adapted the 1921 novel Little Fiddler of the Ozarks by J. Breckenridge Ellis. 1922 was followed by a collaboration with director John Ford for the movie drama Little Miss Smiles, in which Shirley Mason played the lead role. For Rin -Tin -Tin as a lifesaver ( Hills of Kentucky, 1927) by Warner Brothers Yost wrote the screenplay with Edward Clark.

Mid-1930s, Yost worked several times for RKO Pictures, where she, among other screenplays for the Astaire - Rogers movies and dance with me! ( The Gay Divorcee, 1934) and The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle ( 1939) wrote. Also the script for George Stevens ' film comedy Alice Adams ( 1935) with Katharine Hepburn and Fred MacMurray is one of her works.

Dorothy Yost was married to Dwight Cummings. Her brother Robert Yost was also a screenwriter. She died in 1967 at the age of 68 years in Monrovia, California.
