Dörpe

The Dörpe is a left tributary of the river Wupper. It rises on the site of a golf course in the village Hückeswagener Stoote, rapidly forms the border to Remscheid, flows through the towns Dörpe, Dörpersteeg and Dörpmühle and opens into the Dörpe - Vorsperre the Wuppertal dam.

Historic water engines on Bach

As all the streams of the area was also home to the Dörpe several mills and hammers, mostly only remember the day the place and field names.

  • Dörpersteger mill ( built in 1778 as a corn mill, later fruit mill)
  • Goldberg Hammer I and II (before 1714, several changes of the function)
  • Dörpmühle ( built before 1690 fulling mill, later expanded to an extensive woolen mill, and today only a few building as a residence receive )
  • Hang Mühle (1872, first mentioned mustard mill)
  • Hager mill ( from 1680 finished fulling mill, demolished during the construction of Dörpe - blocking system )
  • Heyer's Hammer I and II ( Burghoff Hammer ) (as of 1718 occupied hammer mill, later sheep wool spinning, then punching, demolished during the construction of Dörpe - blocking system )
  • Coens mill ( Dörpemühle ) (as of 1189 occupied Kameralmühle, later Walkmühle, 1889 burned )
  • Lüdorfs Hammer ( licensed as stretching Hammer 1715 )

The water quality is I-II.
