Dorper (sheep)

The Dorper is a South African-born sheep breed, which in the 1930s from the Dorset Horn and the Blackhead Persian / ( Somaliaschaf ) was grown.

The name was inspired Dorper from the first letters of the two output breeds ( Dorset Horn and Blackhead Persian ). The aim was to breed a better adapted to the arid climate of the region race. It is a fast growing meat producing, unpretentious sheep.
