The Dortmund townhouse inner city train station is right at the junction of Ruhrallee ( B54 ) and the Mark Brandenburg Road and is an important railway station in Dortmund. Stop here next to the S4 also several Dortmund tram lines and a bus route. The station carries the number 1292 and is a station on the 5th category. The international station number is 8001520, the operating points symbol is EDST ( former Bundesbahndirektion food, Bahnhof Dortmund town house). It is a through station.

Vehicular importance

The S4 from Unna to Dortmund- Luetgendortmund is conducted in east-west direction on a high track through the station. The platforms are accessible by stairs and lifts. The underground part is approached from the lines U41, U45, U47 and U49 and runs in a north -south direction. Objectives are Lünen Brambauer, Dortmund Central Station, the Bahnhof Dortmund- Westerfilde, the Port of Dortmund, the Dortmund Westphalia, Hacheney, Clarenberg and Aplerbeck. In addition, before the station keeps the bus 444 of the Dortmunder Stadtwerke connecting the Dortmund main station with the casino Hohensyburgstraße every hour.

History

The train station is on the railway line Osterath - Dortmund Süd Rheinische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft and the railway line Dortmund Süd -Oberhausen - Sterkrade the Royal Westphalian Railway Company, in the immediate vicinity of the abandoned Dortmund's South Station. On May 26, 1963 held here for the first time a passenger train of the German Federal Railways, which was operated at the time not yet electrified line from a 212 with n- cars. With the S -Bahn launch on June 3, 1984 went here for the first time x - cart with 111ern, later with 143ern.

Future

In the original S -Bahn planning was provided to continue leading the S4 Luetgendortmund afield to Herne and from there to Essen. For this purpose, a short new line would be necessary between Dortmund and Dortmund Luetgendortmund - Bövinghausen that was but currently rejected by the North Rhine-Westphalian transport planning. A direct connection to other cities apart from Unna it is therefore not in the foreseeable future.
