Doru Tureanu

Doru Tureanu ( born January 11, 1954 in Bucharest, † March 11, 2014 ) was a Romanian ice hockey player and coach.

Career

Doru Tureanu spent his entire club career in his hometown at Dinamo Bucharest, for which he ran aground 1970-1987 in the Romanian Hockey League. With his team he won in this period, six -time national champion title (1971, 1972, 1973, 1976, 1979 and 1981). Both Dinamo and the national team, he played along with Marian Costea and Dumitru Axinte in an attack formation. After his retirement he was the coach of the Romanian national ice hockey team for a short time.

In 2011 he was accepted as only the second Romanian ever after Eduard Pană into the IIHF Hall of Fame. After divorcing his wife Tureanu moved ever further from the public. In 2013 he lost his home and was admitted to a sanatorium, from which he fled shortly thereafter. On March 2, 2014 Tureanu suffered a stroke, the consequences of which he died on 11 March 2014 in Bucharest Spitalul Tina Cole.

Internationally

For Romania Tureanu participated in the C world championships in 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987 and the B World Championships in 1976 and 1979. In addition, he was in the squad of his country at the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1976 and 1980 in Lake Placid.

Overall Tureanu played more than 100 matches in which he scored 74 goals and 39 assists ( 112 points scorer ).
