History

On July 16, 1757, a large fire destroyed within two hours almost the entire village. Among the former refugees was also later known Lilienthaler Pastor Johann Wilhelm Hönert.

On 1 January 2011 Dorum lost the status of the North Sea resort.

The community Dorum will form 1 January 2015 together with the communities Cappel, Midlum, Misselwarden, Mulsum, North Wood, Padingbüttel and Wremen the new community Wurster North Sea coast in the district of Cuxhaven. The Samtgemeinde Wursten is dissolved by the same date.

Origin of the name

For the first time the name " Dorum " mentioned in the year 1312. Before the final place name to " Dorum " was, the place was called " Dornem ", " Thornum ", " Dorum " and " Dornem ". Coat of arms

Churches

The St Urbanus Church belongs to the houses of God in Wremen and Imsum to the main churches of the country sausages. It was built around 1200. By Dorum the road from Midlum leads to Bremerhaven. Dorum is located about six kilometers from the A27 motorway away. Access is via the exit Neuenwalde Dorum.
