Dorus

Doros (Greek Δῶρος ) is considered the progenitor of the Greek tribe of the Dorians.

Father of Doros is Hellen and his mother the nymph Orseis. His siblings are Xuthus and Aeolus. Xanthippe is the daughter of Doros and the wife of Pleuron. Hellen divided his empire among his sons. Doros got a part and called his subjects Dorians. The great Greek tribal group of the Dorians derives its name from this ancestor. The Greeks considered him the founder of Dor.

His son Tektamos led resettlement of Aeolians and Pelasgians to Crete.
