Dos Valires Tunnel

The Tunel dos dels Valires is a major road tunnel in the Principality of Andorra, which connects the two Andorran towns of La Massana and Encamp.

History

The four-lane two- tube tunnel with a length of 2,870 kilometers, connecting the main roads CG 2 and CG 3 The construction was started in 2005. Due to an accident at the Pont de Lisboa viaduct of La Massana in 2009, in which five Portuguese construction workers were killed, there was a delay.

The tunnel was thus opened in July 2012. The cost was around 160 million euros. The construction work was carried out by the Andorran company Grup Heracles and planning company UTE Euro Consult. Operator is the Agència de Govern d' Andorra mobility.
