Double Dealer

Double Dealer (Japaneseダブル·ディーラー, daburu DIRA ) was a Japanese power metal band that was founded in 2000 by Takenori Shimoyama. As one of the few Japanese bands that toured in Europe, they could celebrate small successes until the dissolution in 2007.

Band History

Double Dealer was founded as an all- star project of the Japanese hard rock and metal scene. In 1998, the two power metal band Saber Tiger and Concerto Moon a concert in Tokyo. This gives a deep friendship developed. As Takao Ozaki 1999 Concerto Moon left, decided guitarist Norifumi Shima a solo album. Looking for a suitable singer, he asked Takenori Shimoyama Sabre Tiger, who promised directly. Over time, this evolved into a common group, which then took the name Double Dealer. The group named itself after the Deep Purple Lady Double Dealer piece from the album Stormbringer (1974). Toshiyuki Koike ( keyboards) and Kohsaku Mitani of Concerto Moon, and Yoshio Isoda (drums) Sabre Tiger finally completed the group.

In early 2000 took Double Dealer on their self-titled debut album. The brackish ground vocals took over Manabu Takaya and Tatsuya Nakamura of their mates, Blindman. The album was a success in Japan and led the group for a concert in France.

The second album Deride at the Top was released in 2001 and offered as well as the previous traditional power metal with speed metal elements in the style of loudness and Ezo. Similarly, lead guitarist Uli Jon Roth, Ritchie Blackmore and Yngwie Malmsteen main inspiration for the donor group. With Time to Die is also a new edition of a Concerto Moon - piece on the sound carrier. After a long break appeared in 2005, the studio album Fate & Destiny, followed by a live CD of a gig in Osaka and a concert DVD, which was recorded in Tokyo. All albums have been sold in Europe on the metal label Limb Music.

The so far last studio album Desert of Lost Souls has not yet been published in Europe and is only available as an import CD. 2007, the group split up.
