Double Leaf Society

The Futabakai (Japanese双 叶 会, dt " double -sheet Company") was a Japanese, hawkish secret society. The name comes from the restaurant in Shibuya where the members met every week.

The company was directed against the dominance of conservative Chōshū clique in the leadership of the Imperial Japanese Army. The fief was Chōshū along with the Satsuma fief the driving force during the Meiji Restoration, in which the imperial rule was restored. Prominent members of the society were:

  • Tōjō Hideki
  • Nagata Tetsuzan (永田 鉄 山)
  • Teiichi Suzuki (铃木 贞 一)
  • Komoto Daisaku (河 本 大作)
  • Doihara Kenji (土肥原 贤 二)
  • Ishiwara kanji (石 原 莞尔)
  • Okamura Yasuji (冈村 宁 次)
  • Tomoyuki Yamashita (山下 奉 文)

Overall, the group was on January 1, 1929 from 18 officers of the Japanese army. They fought for the mobilization of the army and the enforcement of Japanese interests in China, such as the separation of Manchuria.

On 19 May 1929, the group merged with the Kokusaku Kenkyūkai (国策 研究 会, German " State Policy Research " ) to Issekikai (一夕 会) together.
