Doug Acomb

Douglas Raymond Acomb ( born May 15, 1949 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who has played, among others, for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League.

Career

Doug Acomb began his career as a hockey player with the York Steel, for whom he played in the 1965/66 season in 40 games in the Ontario Hockey Association. Then he played from 1965 to 1969 for the Toronto Marlboros in the OHA and won the 1967 Memorial Cup with his team. At the beginning of the season 1969/70 Acomb could play two games for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League, before he spent the rest of the season with the Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League and the Buffalo Bisons of the American Hockey League.

After a season with the Phoenix Roadrunners of the Western Hockey League (1970 /71), Acomb returned for another three years in the OHA, in which he played for the Barrie Flyers. His only playing time outside of North America spent the Canadians 1974/75 at the Vienna EV in Austria. He finished the season but off at the Port Huron Flags of the International Hockey League. His career eventually ended Acomb in 1976 with his former club from the OHA, the Barrie Flyers.
