Career with CCR

End of the 1960s the band had their breakthrough and created hits such as Bad Moon Rising, Lookin ' Out My Back Door, Green River or Down on the Corner Hits, linked the elements of blues, rock and roll and country. Bruce Eder of Allmusic called Clifford an equally important element in the band's music, such as John Fogerty's voice and guitar style ("[ ... ] yes, he [ John Fogerty ] wrote the stuff, but theywere the rhythm section, and as good a rhythm section as any American white rock & roll band of the '60s ever had, on songs where the beat, not to mention the textures of the bass and the drums, counted for a lot " ). He is also the namesake of the fifth album of the band, Cosmo 's Factory.

Clifford was allowed to published in 1972 album Mardi Gras - bassist Stu Cook as well - write the first few songs, including songs like Tearin 'Up the Country, which are relatively unknown outside the Fankreise by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Tearin 'Up the Country in 1972, released as a B-side of Someday Never Comes, the last single from the band, but did not reach the charts.

When the band broke up in October 1972, he and bassist Stu Cook took the party from Fantasy Records, which earned them eternal enmity with lead singer and guitarist John Fogerty, which was right after the breakup of the band in a dispute with fantasy.

During his time in the band he played drums Camco (now Drum Workshop ).
