Doug Hoyle, Baron Hoyle

Eric Douglas Harvey Hoyle, Baron Hoyle, known as Lord Hoyle ( born February 17, 1930) is a British politician and former Member of Parliament in the House of Commons.

He was first elected to Parliament in 1974 for the constituency of Nelson and Colne. He lost in the election 1979, almost his seat, but he was able in 1981 to return to the parliament as he safe Labour constituency Warrington got the by-election in 1981.

Hoyle lost his seat at the general election in 1997 and was raised on 14 May 1997 as Baron Hoyle for Life Peer.

He is a board member of the Warrington Wolves Rugby League and board member of Debt Free Direct.

Lord Hoyle is Freeman of Gibraltar and the Gibraltar Medallion of Honour in 2010, he was awarded.

In November 2010, the University of Chester gave him an honorary doctorate.
