Doug Supernaw

Doug Supernaw ( born September 26, 1960 as Douglas Anderson Supernaw in Houston, Texas ) is an American country singer who is counted among the new traditionalists.

Doug's mother, a miner 's daughter, was enthusiastic about country music, while his father, a busy in the petroleum industry scientists, Classical preferred. Doug himself was from childhood a passionate sportsman. His achievements as a golfer were so impressive that he was awarded for a college scholarship. His second passion was songwriting, with whom he also began very early.

He abandoned his studies after a short time in 1979 and joined a band as a lead singer. He then worked for two years on an oil rig. From 1984 on, he regularly visited Nashville, to look around in the hope of a career in the scene. He stood a few times just before a recording contract or a job at a music publisher. Finally he retired in 1989 finally returned to Houston to continue to play in his home demanding country music.

Career

In 1992 he received from Nashville BNA label, which had received some of his demo tapes, a recording contract. In the same year, the single Honky Tonk Fool was produced and one year later the album Red And Rio Grande. From the album, which went gold a year later, two successful singles were released: Reno reached in 1993 place four on the country charts and I Do not Call Him Daddy became his first number - one hit.

Before he could continue his career, he was afflicted by a strange series of accidents. First, he broke his neck while surfing a whirl. Hardly recovered, he was lucky to survive a serious car accident. Finally, he retired to a life-threatening food poisoning. In 1995 he moved to the Giant label, where he could be placed with the single Not Enough Hours In The Night in third place. In the same year the album You Still Got Me was released.
