Douglas A. Anderson

Douglas Allen Anderson ( born 1959 ) is an American literary scholar and bookseller. His specialty is the fantasy literature, he did deserve it. Particularly to the edition philology fantastic works

Anderson worked as a bookseller at first in Ithaca, New York, then in northern Indiana. 1988 Apparitions his first book, The Annotated Hobbit, a text- critical and annotated edition of JRR Tolkien 's famous children's book The Hobbit. Since the publication of The Annotated Hobbit, for which he was awarded the Mythopoeic Award, Anderson considered the world's greatest expert on the textual tradition of the Hobbit.

On Anderson's critical text studies to the Lord of the Rings the modified American edition is based at Houghton Mifflin in 2002, which also included several changes to Tolkien's British editions. Anderson also contributed a note on the text at that discusses the history of these changes.

With Verlyn Flieger and Michael DC Drout is Anderson editor of the journal Tolkien Studies: An Annual Scholarly Review ( so far band 1-7, 2004-2010 ).

Anderson was also modern issues other fantasy writers out, eg Kenneth Morris and William Hope Hodgson.
