Douglas County is a county located in the state of Washington, United States. Here 32,603 people live. The the county seat ( county seat ) is located in Waterville.
Geography
The county has an area of 4788 square kilometers; of which 73 square kilometers (1.52 percent) of water.
History
The County was formed on November 28, 1883 from parts of Lincoln County. It was named after Stephen Arnold Douglas, a politician, statesman and rival of Abraham Lincoln to the office of President.

According to the census of 2000, there were 32,603 people in the county. There were 11,726 households, and 8,876 families. The population density was 7 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 84.65 % White, 0.31 % African American, 1.09 % Native American, 0.55 % Asian, 0.10 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 10.83% from other races groups; 2.48% were descended from two or more races. 19.73 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 11,726 households out of which 38.40% have children under the age of 18 living with them. 61.60 % were married couples living together, 9.70 % had a female householder with no husband. 24.30 % were non-families. 20.00% of all households and 7.80% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.76 and the average family size was 3.16 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread out with 29.50 % under the age of 18, 8.20 % from 18 to 24, 27.30 % from 25 to 44 years, 22.40 % between 45 and 64 years and 12.70% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 98.20 males, 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.00 males.
