Douglas Diamond

Douglas W. Diamond ( * October 1953 ) is an American economist. His explanation of the existence of banks is a standard work in his field.

Diamond is a professor at the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago. He is married and has two children.

He pursued his education at Brown University, which he graduated from Yale University in economics and a doctorate. Since 2001 he is member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 2012 he was awarded the doped with $ 200,000 Morgan Stanley American Finance Association Award for Excellence in Finance in 2013 with an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Zurich.
