Douglas Gresham

Douglas Gresham ( born November 10, 1945 in New York City, New York, USA ) is a British writer and film producer.

Biography

Douglas Gresham is the oldest of two sons of William Lindsay Gresham two writers and Joy Davidman. After divorcing Gresham his mother married the British writer CS Lewis, Douglas and David adopted in 1956.

After Lewis's death in November 1963 that his 18 -year-old step-son bequeathed the rights to his works, of which The Chronicles of Narnia are best known today.

Gresham's childhood memories wrote this in 1988 Lenten Lands: My Childhood with Joy Davidman and CS Lewis on paper. Parts of it, formed the basis for Shadowlands, a film of 1994, in which Anthony Hopkins as CS Lewis and Debra Winger are seen as Joy Davidman. In 2005 he took over the co-production of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe and performs this task in 2008 in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian continues.

He also has a presence in both films in supporting roles.

Douglas Gresham is, though born a Jew, converted to Christianity; his brother David, with whom he has grown apart, has returned after the death of Lewis to Judaism.
