Dournon

Dournon is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Dournon is located at 610 m above sea level. M., east of Salins- les- Bains and about 21 km north of the city Champagnole (air line). The farming village extends in the Jura, in a wide valley on the first Jura plateau, on the southern edge of the height of the Bois lapel, between the valleys of erosion Furieuse in the west and in the east Lizon Supérieur.

History

Is first mentioned Dournon in the 10th century. The village belonged to the rule of Sainte -Anne. Was in 1493 it was the scene of fighting between the troops of King Charles VIII of France and of the Archduke Maximilian I. Again affected Dournon 1639, when it was plundered and burned by troops of Duke Bernhard of Saxe- Weimar.
