Dov Schwartzman

Berel " Dov " Schwartzman ( born 1921 in Nevel, Russia, † November 6, 2011 in Jerusalem) was an American ultra-Orthodox rabbis.

Life

Schwartzman, son of Rabbi Yehoshua Zev Schwartzman, studied at the Hebron Yeshiva. In his first marriage he was married to the daughter of Aharon Kotler, the founder of the Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood Township, New Jersey; from the dissolved marriage were born six children. From his second marriage also had six children.

Dov Schwartzman 1955 was founder and dean ( rosh yeshiva ) of the Bais Hatalmud, a Talmud high school ( yeshiva ) in Sanhedria Murhevet in Jerusalem. Together with Shmuel Kamenetzky he founded in 1965 the Talmudical Yeshiva of Philadelphia.
