Dova DV-1 Skylark

The DV -1 Skylark DOVA is an ultralight airplane travel by Czech manufacturer DOVA Aircraft.

History

The development of the Skylark by the Canadian Professor David Marsden ( a retired aerodynamics professor and avid pilots from Alberta, Canada ) began in January 1999. The first flight of the prototype took place in May 2000. In May 2002, a contract between Dr. Marsden and the Czech company DOVA Aircraft was closed from Paskov after they should take over the responsibility for the approval and production of the Skylark in Europe. Originally designed for the American LSA category design was adapted from the company and to the European UL building codes. DOVA is providing her the kit for the aircraft. Finished aircraft ( from the kit with pattern approval and supervision) are produced in Germany by the company UL Structural Engineering Grilz Kamenz. The LSA version is produced by Skyviewaviation in California. The price of the machine starts at about 75,000 euros. Right now ( March 2010 ), more than 50 machines built ( including 25 in Germany ), of which flies about 35.

Construction

The DV -1 is an all metal construction -made, single-engine and two-seat aircraft for cruise. The low-wing has a T-tail and is powered by a Rotax 912S 100 hp. As an adjustable propeller at the bottom Trefoil GRP or optionally an adjustable constant- speed propeller comes Neuform used. The fuel is housed in two 45 l tanks in the wings. The airfoil was designed for the specific aerodynamic requirements of ultralight aircraft on the computer. The profile of the trapezoidal truss is divided into three sections (front laminar, center of large thickness and high curvature, rear optimized for good stall behavior) in order to meet different requirements ( for example, a high level of security at low speeds ). In order to improve the flight performance winglets were installed. The flaps can be between 40 ° ( at landing ) and -10 ° adjustable (for the high-speed flight ). The non- retractable tricycle landing gear with steerable nose is covered and partially made of fiberglass.
