Doves (band)

The Doves are a British indie rock band from Manchester.

The band is known for its wide, epic sound. They are compared with both Radiohead and classic Manchester bands like The Stone Roses, New Order and The Smiths.

Band History

Was founded by the brothers Jez Williams Doves (guitar) and Andy Williams ( drums and vocals ), along with Jimi Goodwin ( vocals, bass and drums), who had already met with 15 in the school. First played in the Madchester -influenced band Sub Sub with the them. Well in the early 1990s, among other things, with the single Is not No Love ( Is not No Use ), also had limited success In the late 1990s her style changed but more and more in a rock direction. The band regrouped new, changed its name and brought out in 1998 and 1999, three EPs.

Their first album, Lost Souls 2000 was positively received by critics and was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. Their second album The Last Broadcast was released two years later, took first place in the UK Top 40 and was also nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. In 2003, the B-side compilation Lost Sides and DVD Where We're Calling From. Their next album, Some Cities was published in early 2005 and again reached the first place in the charts. On 3 April 2009 appeared in Germany their fourth studio album "Kingdom of Rust ".
