Down on the Farm (1941 film)

Down on the Farm is an American animated short film in part by Tex Avery and Lilly Lou from the year 1941.

Action

The animals of a farm are shown, including horses, chickens, ducks, pigs and cows. All animals talk, then a parrot ordered a beer, a horse complains about the serious rider, who recently sat on him, a donkey insulted the audience, look at this film, and a barn owl sings a song by Bing Crosby.

Production

Down the Farm was created as part of the short film series Speaking of Animals. Here, taking pictures of animals by rotoscoping were provided with separately filmed mouths and so brought to the " Talk ".

The film was released on 18 August 1941. Other parts of the Speaking -of-Animals series, which ran until 1949, were, for example, in a Pet Shop, In the zoo as well as the Oscar-winning short film Speaking of Animals and Their Families and Who's Who in Animal Land.

Awards

Down on the Farm in 1942 for an Oscar in the category " Best Short Film ( A film reel ) " nominated, but could not prevail against Of Pups and Puzzles itself.
