Downbelow Station
Pell's Star ( in the original English: Downbelow Station) is a science fiction novel by the American author CJ Cherryh. The novel takes place in the Allianz Cherryhs Union universe at the time of the Company Wars.
Action
The space station in orbit of Downbelow, a planet of the star Pell, is as yet neutral point between the spheres of influence of the Earth and the Union, a federation of former colonies of the earth. The Fleet of the earth under the leadership of Conrad Mazians occupied the station to form a last bulwark against the advancing fleet of the Union. However, the Union has agents on the station, which they are to take over or sabotage for the Union. The threat of destruction is prevented by the Erdflottenkapitänin Signy Mallory, plagued by remorse, deserted to form with the dealer association, a third force in the universe of people.
Interspersed in the novel are stories about the peaceable inhabitants of Downbelow with which humanity has made a first contact.
