Downspout

Downpipes are vertically mounted pipes. As part of the roof drainage serve to drain the rain water that comes out of the gutter, and the house dirty water drainage within and outside buildings.

Wastewater pipes

The materials for wastewater down pipes are cast iron, mild steel, stoneware and plastic ( PVC pipes or HT pipes ); more details, see " sewage pipe ". When choosing the material which insulation properties ( background noise ) is taken into account, among other things, developed the downpipe. When building a house to cast iron has proven, as it is well insulated against noise.

Rainwater pipes

The materials for rainwater downpipes (outside of a building) are plastic, galvanized steel plate, copper plate, titanium zinc and asbestos cement.

In Germany downspouts should be designed so that they can derive rain showers with a rainfall of 60-100 l / (h × m²). The following figures are approximate:

Account of the large diameter that the water flows along the inner wall and in the center of the air can flow through. At the downpipe other components such as downspout filter, Fallrohrsieb, rainwater collectors and rainwater flap or even rain water diverter can be installed before the final connection is made via a standpipe (water ) to a sewer.
