Downtown (owarai)

Downtown (Japaneseダウン コタ ウンコ) is a Japanese comedy duo consisting of Matsumoto Hitoshi (松 本人 志) and Hamada Masatoshi (浜 田 雅 功, "Hama - chan" ), who are friends since their school days in Amagasaki, Hyōgo Prefecture. Originally belonged to the "combination " of another classmate.

Downtown is an exceptionally long time popular and influential combination of artistic agency Yoshimoto Kōgyō: Since 1983 active as a then young and unconventional comedy group, they are mainly known in manzai at home, but also as the host of various Japanese Variety shows. Matsumoto occurs occasionally in films and television dramas, has sought a foothold in the music industry and is in the television advertising a regular place.
