Downtown is a pop song from the year 1964.

It was written by Tony Hatch and sung by Petula Clark, a worldwide hit. The song was a number -one hit in Germany and stayed twelve weeks in the charts. It reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, was awarded the 1965 Grammy for " Best Rock and Roll Song" and received a gold record for more than one million copies sold in the United States. In 2003 it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
