Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein
Paul Doyle Caiafa ( born September 15, 1964 in Lodi, New Jersey ), also known Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein is an American rock musician who was known primarily for his work as guitarist for the horror punk band Misfits.
Career
Caiafa came in 1979 to two years earlier founded Misfits, played his first official appearance but only on Halloween 1980, and at that time was just 16 years old. Unlike many other times involved in the band musicians he kept his place for many years. After the Misfits with Glenn Danzig had separated in 1983, he founded together with his brother Jerry Only the band Kryst the Conqueror, with whom he recorded one album, which was, however, never officially released. Some songs which were instead brought out in 1989 to a Deliver Us From Evil -titled EP. In 1995, the band broke up again, at the same time the Misfits were revived with a new cast. Shortly after the turn of the millennium, however Caiafa got out. In a later interview he called out as a reason that lacked the numerous member changes in the band, the necessary cohesion and identification. In an interview with the magazine Kin Kats he said in 2009: "There was no band structure and no singer. And there is still no singer or new material. That was not what I wanted. I wanted a new band with their own material, no cover band. But someone saw it differently. "
Since 2005 he is working on his own band project Gorgeous Frankenstein. In the same year he participated as a guest on the tour the band Danzig of his former colleagues Misfits Glenn Danzig. Together they played there a few classics of their former band. For many, the interaction due to the legal battles that led Glenn Danzig after the breakup of the Misfits with the other band members, surprisingly.
Equipment
Since its beginnings in the Misfits Caiafa plays its changing with time on guitar Ampeg Lee Jackson amps that were actually designed as a bass amp. In the period from 1980 to 1987, he played an Ibanez Iceman either guitar or BC Rich Mockingbird (both in black). Since 1987 he plays exclusively self-designed graphite guitars, which were known as the Annihilator. The strings of his choice are his signature model from Dean Markley, which run under the name Skull Busters. Also brother Jerry has got a signature model; appropriately enough, however, for the bass.
Others
- His brother Gerald Caiafa, known as Jerry Only, is a bassist and founding member of the Misfits. This, and singer Glenn Danzig, Paul brought the age of 13 years when playing the guitar. The relationship with his brother Doyle referred today as shattered. They would have no contact, Gerald did not speak with him anymore.
- Paul Annihilator guitar was also part of his brought out by 20th Century Toys action figure that represented him in Misfits regalia.
- Since 2001 he has been with Stephanie Bellars, who has become known under the name Gorgeous George former wife and manager of wrestler Randy Savage, married. The two have a daughter who they called out of reverence for the actor Boris Karloff Boris's. Overall Caiafa has four children.
- The muscular Caiafa was briefly also active in the wrestling scene.
