DR Byen Station

DR Byen is an above-ground subway station in the Danish capital Copenhagen, in the north of the district Ørestad. The station is served by the M1 line of the Copenhagen metro system. The name of the station derives from DR Byen, the eponymous headquarters of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation ( Danmarks Radio, DR short ), which is headquartered in the immediate vicinity of the station. Originally, the name of the station Universitetet should be, because the University of Copenhagen wanted to build a new building near the station. However, these buildings were built closer to the previous station Islands Bryggen, which is why the station was given the name of the radio station.

The station was opened in high position on 19 October 2002 for the newly built metro section Vestamager - Nørreport.
