DR Byen

DR Byen ( German as: " DR City ") is a complex of buildings and the headquarters of the Danish State Radio Danmarks Radio (DR ) in the north of the Copenhagen district Ørestad on the island of Amager.

The headquarters of DR is located on Emil Holms channel, which was named after the 1925-1937 active first director. In the complex, all facilities of the Copenhagen DR are housed under one roof. Segments

DR Byen covers 124,000 m² and consists of four transparent segments whose seven -story buildings are connected on the second floor by glass transition bridges.

  • In segment 1, various productions of the DR are located. Editorial rooms, large studios, production staff, reception, Studio Lounge, workshops and storage are housed here. The building is the largest segment, with its 51,000 square meters and 385 rooms.

Planning and construction

The architectural competition for the entire complex was won by the architect Vilhelm Lauritzen Office A / S, which was also responsible for the predecessor buildings Radiohuset and TV - Byen, during the concert hall was designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel office. Construction accompanied economic problems in which mainly the concert hall from the frame fell. The budget has been exceeded several times and was at the end of over three billion Danish kroner.
