Dr. Dolittle 2 is an American comedy film directed by Steve Carr from the year 2001. It is a sequel to the comedy Dr. Dolittle from the year 1998.


Dr. John Dolittle is asked to help in the fight against the clearing of a forest. He gets the idea that the forest must be protected, if there is under the protection of species animals are located. Therefore, the former circus bear Archie, who belongs to a rare species, brought into the woods, in the hope that he and those already living there Ava become a couple.

Only after some time Ava is convinced, however, that Archie is a suitable partner for them. Archie, however, legally declared and imprisoned too dangerous for his environment. Dr. Dolittle then organized a protest, attended by a host animals from around the world. The majority of the forest is saved. Archie and Ava get at the film's two small bear cubs.


Desson Howe wrote in the Washington Post of 22 June 2001, the film was a forgettable sequel to the film from the year 1998. Neither the film nor Eddie Murphy were funny. The critics scoffed, the best news is that the film screening in 87 minutes was over.


Eddie Murphy and Raven Symoné Pearman - nominated in 2002 for the Kids' Choice Award. Kyla Pratt and Raven Symoné Pearman - nominated 2002 for the Image Award. The film won the Californian Genesis Award 2002. David Newman won the BMI film music award 2002.


The film was in California - and rotated in Alaska - including in San Francisco. His cost of production was estimated at 72 million U.S. dollars. The film played in theaters in the USA about a 113 million U.S. dollars.
