Dr. Simon Locke

Police surgeon Simon Lark ( Original title: Dr. Simon Locke, from the second season of Police Surgeon ) is a Canadian television series that was produced 1971-1974 and aired in the United States by means of content syndication.

Action

The young doctor, Dr. Simon Lark from Toronto assumes a place in the fictional small town of Dixon Mills, where he assists the experienced physician Dr. Andrew Sellers. There he is working with the Sheriff Dan Palmer and the nurse Louise Wynn and is dealing with all kinds of medical emergencies. After the end of the first season of Lark returns to the big city, where he has worked as a police doctor first under Lieutenant Dan Palmer and later under Lieutenant Jack Gordon. The field of activity of Lark, persists strongly, now he is involved in the investigation of criminal cases.

Background

The series was supported, among others, with funds from the Colgate -Palmolive Group, however, suffered from severe cost pressure. The Hollywood veteran and Oscar winner Jack Albertson, who had been hired as a driving force of the series announced due to the miserable conditions of production and in his opinion inferior quality of the series. This was also the reason for the complete realignment of the series from the second season. As guest stars appeared mainly Canadian actors such as William Shatner, Leslie Nielsen and John Candy, the other guest stars included, among others, Donald Pleasence, and Keenan Wynn.

Of the total of 86 episodes produced in four seasons ZDF radiated from the November 19, 1979 only 25 episodes on Mondays in the early evening, they all came from the third season. Repetitions were made in 1981 and 1984. In the German treatment of the name of the main character of Locke on Lark has changed.
