Dragan Čavić

Dragan Čavić (Cyrillic Драган Чавић; born March 10, 1958 in Zenica ) is a Serbian politician in Bosnia - Herzegovina.

Life

Dragan Čavić lives since 1968 in Banja Luka, 1980, he graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Banja Luka from.

He is more liberal than its predecessor set and distances itself from the crimes of the Bosnian Serbs in the Yugoslav wars. From 2000 to 2002 he was Vice President of Republika Srpska. On 28 November 2002, he assumed the office of President of the Republika Srpska in Bosnia. In the elections in October 2006, his challenger Milan Jelic won the race for the presidency.

Čavić belonged from 1996 to 2008, the Serbian Democratic Party. In 2009 he founded the Demokratska partija (Democratic Party). Since 2010 he is a Member of this party in the Parliament of Republika Srpska. At the municipal election in 2012 he was a candidate for the office of Mayor of Banja Luka; with 32.2 % of the vote, he was placed second behind Slobodan Gavranović ( SNSD ), who was elected with 40.2 % of the votes for mayor.
