Draka Holding

Draka was a Dutch company that makes cables for a wide variety of areas such as telecommunications and automobiles. It was the sixth largest cable manufacturer in the world.

History

Draka was founded in 1910 by Jan Teewis Duyvis under the name Hollandse Draad & Cable Fabriek ( Dutch German wire and cable factory). In 1970 the company was bought out by Philips and incorporated as Draka cable into the corporate structure. 1986 Draka was independently financing of Parcom and Flint Beheer again, but with some parts ( Alcor Draka Draka Interfoam ) were sold by Philips to Solvay.

From 1991 to 2010, the company was listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

Draka in 2008 in 30 countries on 68 sites active. The development and manufacture of cables was into the " energy and infrastructure ", " communication " and "industrial and special areas " divided.

2009 Prysmian made ​​a takeover offer and was able to win in a bidding battle against Nexans. The offer of € 17.20/Aktie ( 9.1 x EBITDA) was adopted on 22 November 2010 and it was the biggest cable manufacturer in the world.
