Dramatists Guild of America

The Dramatists Guild of America ( DGA) is an influential professional association of playwrights, composers and lyricists of the American theater industry with headquarters on Broadway in New York City.

The interest group has its nearly century-old roots in the established 1912 Authors' League of America ( ALA), the 1921 in the two industry sectors Dramatists Guild for stage and radio, and the Authors Guild (AG) aufteilte for writers, novelists and nonfiction authors. The Authors Guild sued Google in 2008 due to copyright violations (Google Book Search Settlement Agreement ), which also members of the Dramatists Guild are concerned.

The task of the DGA is to allow the members to support a total of in all areas of contract law and the rights of recovery and provides this sample contracts. It has its own Bill of Rights created in which the rights of composers, librettists and playwrights are listed.

The DGA currently operates in 17 states representatives and has approximately 6,000 members (as of 2011 ).

Former Presidents of the union have included Arthur Miller, Eugene O'Neill and Tennessee Williams.
