Drayage

Cartage is the name of the transport costs from the shipper ( original consignor ) to the shipping carrier and the forwarder to the receiver.

To distinguish one also speaks of drayage I for the transport costs to the shipping carrier, whereas the cost of delivery from the receiving station to the buyer cartage are called II. The distinction is important, if in certain commercial terms the cartage between seller and buyer will be divided. In the delivery clause " freight prepaid " ( = seller bears the costs of transport to the destination station ) borne by the seller, for example, the drayage I, and the buyer must pay the cartage II.
