Drayson Bowman

Drayson Bowman ( born March 8, 1989 in Grand Rapids, Michigan ) is an American professional ice hockey player. Since July 2008 he is with the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League under contract and playing in parallel for their farm team Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League on the position of the center.

Career

Career as a junior player

Drayson Bowman played in the 2004/05 season for the Kimberley dynamiters in the Canadian Junior Football League Kootenay International Junior Hockey League. He scored 59 points scorer in 47 games. When the Western Hockey League Bantam Draft Bowman was selected by the Spokane Chiefs to a total eighth position. The attacker was honored by the KIJHL as Eddie Mountain Division Rookie of the Year. The player, who grew up in Littleton in the U.S. state of Colorado and Joe Sakic gives as an example, shock at the end of the WHL season 2004/ 05 in addition to the Chiefs and completed this season, four games for Spokane. From the WHL season 2005/ 06 Bowman belonged to the permanent staff of the Chiefs. At the end of the season 2006 /07 the Americans was evaluated in the NHL Entry Draft in 2007 as 36th best North American junior players. With the Entry Draft, the striker was finally selected in the third round at a total of 72 position of the Carolina Hurricanes.

In the 2007 /08 season, the player won with his team as champions of the Western Hockey League the Ed Chynoweth Cup, Bowman had 20 points in 21 playoff games the most successful scorer of the Chiefs. In addition, the Spokane Chiefs qualified for the Memorial Cup in 2008. In this tournament, the Spokane Chiefs remained undefeated and won their second Memorial Cup after 1991. Drayson Bowman was appointed All- Star team after this competition in the Memorial Cup. A few weeks after the player signed his first professional contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. Bowman completed yet another season in the Western Hockey League and was appointed All- Star team following the 2008/09 season in the WHL West Second.

Career as a professional player

Drayson Bowman was invited in April 2009 during the National Hockey League play- offs of the Carolina Hurricanes to go along with the NHL team during the playoffs and to exercise. The player was without a commitment to the team. The season 2009/10 the Americans began at Carolina Farm Team Albany River Rats in the American Hockey League. This season, the attacker also denied his first games in the NHL; total came Bowman 2009/10 to nine appearances in the National Hockey League. He played his first NHL game on January 10, 2010 against the Atlanta Thrashers. His first goal came on 6 April 2010 with a game the Hurricanes against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The player also spent most of the 2010/11 season in the AHL, this time at the new farm team of the Hurricanes, the Charlotte Checkers. Overall, Bowman came on 51 AHL inserts. In addition, he played 23 games for Carolina in the NHL, but he scored one assist.

Internationally

The Center represented the United States for the first time at the U20 World Youth Championship in 2009. During the first game of the tournament against the German selection Bowman was voted best player of the game. The Americans finished the tournament in fifth place. Bowman came in all six games of his team to use, scoring three goals and one assist.
