Drøbak

Drøbak is a village on the east bank of the Oslo fjord in Norway. It is the administrative center for the municipality in Akershus Frogn and has 13,006 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012).

Primarily Drøbak has a tourist importance. In the city there are many picturesque houses, art galleries and small shops. There is also a Christmas post office.

The German cruiser Blücher was sunk on the morning of April 9, 1940 near Drøbak. As part of the company Weserübung the ship transported soldiers with the goal of becoming Oslo. The sinking was King Haakon and the Government the necessary time to leave Oslo with the Norwegian gold reserve.
