Drechow

Drechow is a municipality in the west of the district Vorpommern - Rügen southeast of Ribnitz Damgarten. Until 2004 the church was part of the Office Tribsees, is now due to a merger offices to the Official Recknitz - Trebeltal.

Geography and transport

Drechow is located about 30 kilometers southwest of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund and about five kilometers northeast of Tribsees. The south of the community lying Federal Highway 20 is accessible via the Tribsees connection ( about six kilometers ). The eastern boundary of the municipality is the blind Cernosin, which opens in the Bek at Drechow. Larger lakes and forest areas do not exist in the municipality.

The municipality consists of the villages Drechow, Katzenow, Krakow and Werder.

History

Drechow was first mentioned in 1250. In Drechow is located on the banks of the blind Cernosin a Slavic castle wall.

After belonging to the Principality of Rügen Drechow fell in 1326 to the Duchy of Pomerania. After the Thirty Years War to the year 1815, the area belonged to Swedish Pomerania and then to the Prussian province of Pomerania. In 1701 the estate Drechow passed into the ownership of the family of Gadow. 1945, the captain and Pastor of Mogens Gadow was (* 1899) expropriated in the course of the land reform. Until 1952 Drechow was part of the district of Stralsund and was thereafter until 1994 Circle Stralsund in the district of Rostock.
